FIREBO-X: Portable fireplace from Schulte Design

by Administrator 30. December 2008 02:48

Winter is on and fire is the most soothing word that makes us feel cozy and comfortable on chilly nights. Breaking the barrier, a German design firm, Schulte Design, introduces the “FIREBO-X” that adds the notion of portability to fireplaces. The FIREBO-X is a portable fireplace that can be used both indoors as well as outdoors. The portable fireplace is an eco-friendly way of heating that uses liquid bio-ethanol with leaving no residuals behind. It comes in the shape of a small wooden case with an elegant and compact design, making its mobility child’s play. The secret of a glossy stainless steel burner with luscious reflector comes into view as one flips open its hood. The small dimensions of the fireplace ask for mere less than 2’ space that is a great space saving ruse for all less spacious homes. The compact portable fireplace is perfect for outdoor parties as well as your living room.

Hysek Colosso spins a globe on a watch for $550,000

by Administrator 26. December 2008 12:51

Keeping a tab on time doesn’t necessarily mean just watching the hour and minutes hands chase each other in an endless quest. Hysek has gone a step further and has come up with Colosso that gives you the liberty to watch the earth spin (literally) right on your wrist. For the first time some watch maker has dared to trap our globe on to time-telling device as the crystal pustule filled with a dimensional earth rotates for local or GMT time. This 12mm three dimensional globe majestically sits at 12 o’clock. The movement is implemented by cathedral timbre and 62 jewels with a 48 hour power reserve. Featuring a big date at 12 o’clock, it also dsiplays indication of the cities of the 24 time zones linked to the GMT.

The retrograde time zones with a linear double display is situated at the lower end and displayed in curvex position with indication arrows that indicate which side to observe (24 to 12 hours / 12 to 24 hours). And since you cannot afford a piece of moon for $550,000, why not strap this Colosso on your wrist for the same price and flaunt our spinning earth instead?

A watch so complicated it's a shame it only tells the time

by Administrator 24. December 2008 12:42

Looking for a watch that's about a million times more distinctive than your crappy Casio? Check out the Cabestan Winch Tourbillion Vertical Watch, a timepiece so stunning that you'll forget that it actually tells the time.

It has 1,352 components all working together, driven by a 450 link chain and nickel silver drums. How's it work? You got me. Via magic, I guess. But it sure looks neat, eh? This insane gizmo will set you back a whopping $275,000, plus $400,000 extra if you want it all blinged up with diamonds and platinum.

DeWitt Concept No. 1 watch - Show your steampunked-up personality

by Administrator 23. December 2008 12:40

Take a look at the DeWitt Concept No. 1 and the first two words that would strike you mind would be ‘steampunk-ishly monstrous.’ The one-of-a-kind timepiece is an upshot of collaboration between DeWitt and French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. This gothic pirate spaceship of a watch does set new standards for steampunk artifacts with its expanding riveted case, flying tourbillon, five barrels and a 21 day power reserve. The flying tourbillon has been employed to counteract the force of gravity and keep the watch accurate. You might scream to read that it costs a whopping $633,000, but then, you know one-of-a-kind creations don’t come cheap. Buyers? Well, the Dewitt Incognito 2008 Concept No.1 watch has already been picked up by Jimmy Tan of Prince Jewellery and Watch Company at the OnlyWatch auction. Can you find anything better than this timepiece to reveal your steampunked-up personality?

Ulysse Nardin watch brings the whole world on your arm...with a price!

by Administrator 21. December 2008 12:37

For all those who have an obsession for collecting wristwatches, the Ulysse Nardin Tellurium J. Kepler is a masterpiece worth possessing. The watch has been rightly named after Johannes Kepler, the 14th/15th century astronomer as it brings the Earth on to our wrists.

Depending on which part of the globe you live, you can order a watch showing Earth as seen from the North or South Pole. Sitting in any part of the world, you can know which part of the Earth has daylight and which is wrapped in darkness. The watch is divided in two parts where one part rotates once in a year and the other shows when there will be a solar or a lunar eclipse.

To be a proud owner of this magnificent platinum watch, you will have to pay a massive amount of $118, 000, and then can you boast of possessing one of the 99 watches to be made in the world.

$60,000 wristwatch that is impossible to counterfeit!

by Administrator 20. December 2008 12:33

The luxury wristwatch market is flooded with fakes these days, and it’s kinda hard to tell the difference between the two. But now, Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin is claiming to have made a wristwatch that is impossible to counterfeit. Dubbed the Quai de I’lle, the watch features invisible UV marking, laser perforations, high-security inks, and other techniques employed to secure passports and currencies. Some of the models available in this watch collection tout tiny text on the dials, which can be read only with the help of a magnifying glass. Pricing starts at $12,000 for the “impossible to counterfeit” wristwatch and can go as high as $60,000, depending on the styles and deterrents used. They have plans to make 800 Quai de I’lles a year.

Hublot’s Big Bang

by Administrator 19. December 2008 12:17

The renowned watch maker, Hublot, in alliance with a diamond-setting workshop, Bunter SA, has designed and developed an elite watch dubbed Big Bang. To remind you, the Hublot Big Bang chronograph won the Best Design Prize in the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix 2005. The $1 million Big Bang boasts a fully invisible setting that makes the material disappear and the only thing revealed are the diamonds. The credit goes to the craftsmen who accomplished the tedious job of making this exclusive watch, which was not feasible a few years ago. The snags in micromechanics put watch makers to labor to the 1/100 degree for an implausible 2000 hours. Startlingly, the tourbillon movement of the watch is veiled under 493 Top Wesselton baguette diamonds of dissimilar sizes. The strap of the Big Bang comes adorned with famous Hublot vulcanized rubber while the clasp is bejeweled with diamonds. So, you have got one million dollar in your account. Sadly, that won’t do anything now as the diamond studded Big bang was just sold.
